Pastors Sermon Discussion – 7th March 2010
One Day – Paul Alexander
Acts 10:1-8 - Scene 1
- Some struggle with the balance between their work and their faith! How would Cornelius’s job and faith be in conflict? Can you relate to this?
- “In the routine, you encounter the divine!” – “One Day” – Do we have too much reliance on the “Cataclysmic Event” rather than expecting God in the day-to-day?
- When have ordinary days been invaded by extraordinary God-encounters for you?
Acts 10:9-23a - Scene 2
- Peter wrestled with his Jewish religious traditions (ancestral ties!) and God’s vision to him! Are there parallels that we encounter in our culture?
- How do our choices of: -
- ssociations
- Actions
- Attitudes
Affect our Christian walk and impact on the world around us?
Acts 10:23b-48 - Scene 3
- Peter was called to “step outside of his culture/community!”! Are we challenged by this prospect? As a church are we too narrow minded – do we really have a big ‘world vision’?
- v44 says the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. v46 says they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God!
Why not devote the rest of the cell to seeking the baptism in the Holy Spirit for those who have yet to receive?
